Recently, a shark called Bukangi made headlines in Korea. The shark was named after Bukhang, Busan’s North Port. It was first spotted on September 18th.
The shark accidentally swam into a narrow waterway at Bukhang Waterfront Park. Since then, many people have visited the park to see it.
The Busan Coast Guard has tried to guide Bukangi into the open sea. Experts say the shark needs to return to the sea. Staying in a shallow waterway for a long time could harm its health.
In September and early October, rescue attempts to return Bukangi to the sea failed. The shark repeatedly came back to the waterway. So the rescue operation has been suspended. Authorities now hope that Bukangi will eventually swim out to the open sea on its own.
