Dinosaurs’ Sounds

In movies, dinosaurs have a low and deep roar. The sound is powerful and scary.

Many scientists studied dinosaur bones and fossils. Now, they have different opinions about dinosaurs’ sounds.

They think that some dinosaurs grunted. Other dinosaurs cooed or even whistled.

These sounds were probably similar to the sounds of modern alligators and birds. That is because alligators and birds evolved from dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs’ Looks

In movies, all dinosaurs have scaly skin. They look like big reptiles.

Scientists think that some dinosaurs had scaly skin. They were similar to today’s lizards and alligators.

But other dinosaurs had feathers. Some of these feathers were quite colorful.

Scientists believe the T. rex* had colorful feathers, too. So, it was probably different from the T. rex in movies.
