Busan is having a record-breaking year for tourism. In the first half of 2026 alone, over 2.4 million foreign tourists visited South Korea’s coastal city, which is a 44 percent jump from last year.
The majority of visitors came from Taiwan and China, though the number of tourists from the United States, France, and Australia also grew quickly. A blockbuster BTS concert in June attracted K-pop fans from across Asia, pushing that month’s arrivals to a record high of over 480,000 people.
Popular spots include Haeundae Beach, the colorful Gamcheon Culture Village, and the cliffside Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Food draws huge crowds too, from fresh seafood at Jagalchi Market to street snacks in the busy Seomyeon district.
Easier transportation has also boosted tourism. The KTX train connects Seoul and Busan in about two and a half hours, making a quick visit simple for both Koreans and international visitors.
Many tourists say they plan to return, and surveys show many stay for multiple days. City officials hope to welcome 4 million foreign visitors by the end of the year, showing that Busan’s charm has truly become global.
