  • IT Workers Getting Older

 Recently, the center of the Korean IT industry, Pangyo, is getting older and older. It is because IT companies are accepting fewer new workers. 

 The Pangyo Techno Valley is known as the most successful techno valley business of Korea, and is called “Korea’s Silicon Valley”, which large companies like Naver, Kakao, and NCSOFT have moved in. Yet now, the image of Pangyo that it is the center of young Korean IT talents seems to be changed. As an example, Kakao’s workers in their twenties decreased to 28% in 2024, and workers in their forties were almost double the amount of those in their twenties this year. 

 About this tragic situation, experts remark that this was because of artificial intelligence. As companies start to prefer experienced workers, they use AI for low-level jobs, replacing newcomers. Some point that this can be a problem in the long term for the companies.
