How Amazon Animals Survive the Rainforest

The Amazon rainforest is hot, wet, and full of life. Many animals live there, and they have special adaptations that help them survive. Jaguars, snakes, hummingbirds, and toucans are some great examples.
Jaguars have fur with spots and patterns that help them blend into the plants and shadows of the rainforest. This camouflage helps them hide from other animals and sneak up on their prey. Some snakes also have colors and patterns that help them hide among leaves and plants.
Birds in the Amazon have special beaks, too. Hummingbirds have long, thin beaks that help them reach deep inside flowers to get nectar. Toucans have large beaks that help them get food. Their big beaks can also help release heat and keep their bodies cool in the hot rainforest.
