Do you like to read books? If you don't, maybe that's because you read boring books! Today I'll recommend my top  five favorite novels to you.

#5 Pony

 This book is the bestseller of my favorite author, R.J Palacio. In it, a 12-year-old boy named Silas goes on a journey with a little horse Pony to rescue his kidnapped dad. I love this book's thrilling story and plot twist. However, the ending was awkward because it was a bit forced.

#4 How to Steal a Dog

 This is Barbara O'connor's heartwarming worldwide best seller. It won 14 awards, including the ALA Notable Children's Book Award. Also, it was made into a movie. The main plot is that Georgina steals a dog to earn rent and escape her poor days. I love this book's touching story. However, it was unrealistic to steal a neighbor's dog.

#3 From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

 This is a popular book that won the Newberry Award, written by E.L. Konigsburg. The main plot is that12-year-old​ Claudia runs away from home and discrimination with her younger brother, Jamie. They go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and find out the secret of the angel statue. I was interested in these two children's fun adventures.

#2 Wonder

 This is R.J. Palacio's book that I read three times. It is a bestselling 2012 middle grade novel. The main character August, who has craniofacial differences, adapts to a new middle school through trial and error. I like the writer's abundant expressions and heartwarming story.

#1 Freewater

  Finally, this is my number one favorite novel. Freewater ​is Amina Luquman-Dawson's book that won the 2023 Newberry Award and the Coretta Scott King Award at the same time. The main character Homer escaped a plantation with his sister Aida and reached a free community. However they go back to rescue their mom with new friends. I was fascinated with the thrilling climax and wonderful plot. I like to read it again and again.

 It was very hard to choose which books to recommend to you. Little Women, Deddy Long Legs, and Mobidic ​are timeless classics too. I want you to enjoy these as well.
