https://upfile.neungyule.com/upload_admin/2025/12/j202601_07.jpgA dazzling light show takes place in the night sky near the North Pole. The aurora borealis, also called the Northern Lights, is one of the most beautiful sights in nature.

Auroras happen due to tiny particles that travel from the Sun to Earth. When they reach Earth, they collide with gases in the atmosphere.

This releases energy that glows and spreads in the atmosphere. It turns the night sky into different colors, including green, pink, purple, and red.

Auroras can happen at different times of the year, but they are best seen in the night sky during late autumn and winter. They also happen in places close to the Arctic Circle,* such as Norway, Finland, Canada, and Alaska.

Many people visit these northern regions in winter to see the aurora borealis. If they are lucky, they will be able to catch a glimpse of the natural light show.

Interestingly, this amazing phenomenon also happens in the Southern Hemisphere,* close to the South Pole. There, it is called the aurora australis,* or the Southern Lights.
