Title: Covid-19 and the Change in Traveling

  Have you traveled abroad during the Covid-19 era? Nowadays, people do not travel to other countries. To prevent Covid 19 diffusion, people do not travel these days. People miss going to other countries and sometimes get stressed. Like this, Covid-19 affected traveling in a huge way. We can’t go abroad, there are many kinds of new travel products, and the future of the tourism industry changed. 

  First, since Covid-19 spread around the world in December 2019, people were not able to travel abroad. This is because we have to prevent infection. If I am infected, I can infect people in other countries too. Also, I can get infected in other countries. Many people were affected by this change, but restaurants, souvenir shops, travel agencies, airline businesses were affected the most. For example, the number of people who take the airplane decreased by 68.1%. This is the lowest number since 1999. 

  Second, people found other ways of traveling. Starting from last year, people started going to domestic travel spots such as Jeju Island or Gangwondo. Therefore, many tourists were concentrated in those areas. For example, after the Covid-19, 4 out of 10 people went on a domestic trip. Also, there are many new types of tourism products. A lot of airlines made a ‘nowhere’ course that only comes back in place after it takes off. Some other airlines made courses where people can experience airplanes. In this course, people can eat airline meals and buy tax-free items. Because of corona, taking planes became a special thing to do. Therefore, people use these products a lot.

  Third, Covid-19 will change the traveling trends in the future. Three main changes will happen. First, Because people are scared of infectious diseases, the number of people who go traveling will decrease. Second, domestic trips will increase as people do not travel abroad. Third, tourism related to international students will decrease. This is because many international students came back to their countries since many countries closed airports.

Experts say that in the post-covid era, there will be many new tourism trends. For example, taking ‘simple but certain happiness’ trips, sharing travel videos through SNS, and using new technologies while traveling will become the new trend. 

  In conclusion, because of Covid-19, people were not able to travel abroad, found other ways of traveling such as domestic trips increased, and the future traveling trends will change. Like this, Covid-19 had a huge influence on traveling. If Covid-19 keeps existing, traveling trends will keep changing and I hope that new ways of traveling will be introduced.
